Infor M3 #7 -- Text panel in Infor M3

Text panel in Infor M3

Text panel is to save text related to the flow you are performing, by looking at the text user shall get the objective behind the same flow in future. There are Pre-texts and Post-texts which acts like comments before and after.

CRS980 is the program which is responsible for text panel i.e., Panel T but the tables where this entered text is stored would be depending on the area where you are working.

Let us see how the text is stored into tables and how those records are linked to the master data.

What is Text Panel?

A text panel is generally a kind of pop up window opens while making entries into M3, where you can enter your comments or remarks regards the flow.

Below is the pictorial representation of the text panel and the parts in it.

  • Header refers to the heading/Name of your text
  • Lines refers to the text lines you want to enter when you hit enter in the lines area system considers it as a new line which means the system would insert a new record into the text table.
Whenever you perform an operation in create mode, a unique TXID (a numeric value) would be generated and this would be stored into the master file on which you are working and a record would be inserted into Header Text Table. Using this TXID system makes a connection between Master and Text table.
In Text tables division is always blank.

Below are the few text table details for program types.

Below is the pictorial representation of how the system makes a connection between the master table and the text tables.

Almost all text tables columns are same. In the above example I have used EUS001 and created a tool whose name is TEST, let us see how the text entered is stored in the database.

If you can check the text panel screenshot and the above relation, you can easily identify how the system stores the text against the flow.

That's it, come back here and tell us about the before-and-after. I bet you'll have something to say!
